As we gather this morning, we join a service already in progress. It began last night; it only pauses today, before continuing tomorrow night, and Sunday morning.
As we gather on Good Friday, we enter most deeply into the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. We move through the events of his trial, torture, and execution. We see his body laid in the tomb. And we venerate the cross, an instrument of cruelty that God transforms into salvation.
